Setting Up and Managing Your Coverage Map
Setting Up and Managing Your Coverage Map

Optimizing Your Service Area for Efficiency

Updated over 7 months ago

For independent contractors working with One Legal, effectively managing your coverage area is crucial for efficient service delivery. This article guides you on how to set up and manage your coverage map for various services including court deliveries, sheriff deliveries, and service of process.

Types of Coverage Area

Service-Specific Coverage:

  • Court and Sheriff Department Deliveries: For fixed address services like court and sheriff deliveries, you opt into serving specific locations. These locations are managed in partnership with your Contractor Success Manager to ensure they align with your capabilities and One Legal's operational needs.

Service of Process Coverage:

  • ZIP Code-Based Coverage: Your coverage area for service of process is defined by one or more ZIP codes. It’s essential to select ZIP codes that you can realistically and feasibly cover, taking into consideration your ability to travel efficiently across the area and manage your workload effectively.

Managing Your Service of Process Coverage Area

Setting Coverage in Your Account:

  • Accessing Coverage Settings: To set or adjust your coverage area, navigate to My Account > One Legal > Coverage. Here you will find the coverage map tool.

  • Selecting Coverage: You can select your desired coverage area by choosing specific ZIP codes. For quicker setup, you may opt to select entire counties or use the drawing tool to create an area and automatically include all ZIP codes or counties within it.

  • Viewing and Adjusting Selections: Your selected ZIP codes are also displayed in a table, where you can individually remove any that you no longer wish to cover.

Importance of Feasible Coverage Settings:

  • Coverage Review: It's important to set a feasible coverage area. One Legal reserves the right to amend or reduce your coverage if it appears excessively large or poses challenges in completing assignments within expected timeframes. This consideration includes factors like distance, road and terrain conditions, and typical traffic patterns.

  • Active Management: Regularly review and adjust your coverage area as needed. Frequent declines of assignments due to being "out of coverage area" will trigger a review of your settings and may lead to adjustments by One Legal to better align with operational efficiencies.

Best Practices for Coverage Management:

  • Active Monitoring: Continuously monitor the effectiveness of your selected coverage areas and adjust as necessary to maximize your efficiency and response times.

  • Communication with One Legal: Maintain open communication with your Contractor Success Manager to ensure your coverage settings align with both your capabilities and the needs of One Legal’s clients.

Properly managing your coverage map is essential for maintaining an efficient workflow and ensuring timely service delivery. By carefully selecting and regularly reviewing your coverage areas, you help ensure a high level of service that meets the expectations of One Legal and its clients.
